AFTER care details
FOR 2 WEEKS AVOID: DIRECT SUNLIGHT & SUBMERGING THE TATTOO IN WATER. THIS INCLUDES SWIMMING, BATHS, HOTUBS OR OPEN WATER ACTIVITIES. REGULAR SHOWERS ARE OK - PLEASE AVOID EXTRA HOT WATER.
PROTECTIVE WRAP (start after care as soon as wrap is removed)
Minimum 4 HOURS
Maximum 4 DAYS
PLEASE NOTE IT IS NORMAL FOR BLOOD, PLASMA OR INK TO BLEED INTO THE BANDAGE. If this happens please REMOVE WRAP ASAP & START AFTER CARE PROCESS
after care wash process
YOU WILL REPEAT THE PROCESS BELOW FOR 5 DAYS, NO MORE THAN TWICE A DAY
After removing wrap:
1. Thoroughly wash your tattoo with anti bacterial soap (dial soap is a good option) with warm water.
2. Pat dry with a clean paper towel
3. Apply a very thin layer of scent free lotion (lubriderm is a good option). Keep your tattoo hydrated throughout the day with a thin layer of lotion on it until healed. (Think the same layer thickness as chapstick on your lips).
Avoid scented lotions (for 5 days) and sunscreen (for 2 weeks)
-After 5 days you will no longer need to follow the after care wash process. You can start applying your regular lotions to the area. It is normal for flakes of color to be coming of at this stage. Allow them to do so naturally. DO NOT PICK ANY SCABS!
-After 2 weeks continue using lotions as needed or when your tattoo looks dry. At this point you can resume water and sun activities. Always put sunscreen on your tattoo anytime you are in the sun
PRO TIPS: After removing the wrap don’t forget to follow the after care instructions twice a day for 5 days. However, if you notice that your tattoo is dry it is so important to re-apply lotion as needed. Keeping your tattoo hydrated and clean is going to give you the best results during your healing process. Avoid letting hot water run directly on the tattoo when showering. It is normal for the area to be itchy. Try not to scratch and avoid tight or restrictive clothing that might rub against the tattoo. Keep your tattoo out of the sun as much as possible. While tanning or tanning in beds, cover your tattoo.
